DESCRIPTION:
The LTC Model 28508 is an in-spec current generation military ESAPI/ ESBI side plate that conforms to the ballistic protection standards outlined in CO/PD 04-19 Rev. J. 
For those who know, this is an ESAPI Rev. J side plate manufactured by LTC. 
 
The LTC 28508 is a high end ballistic solution comprised of a hot pressed Boron Carbide Ceramic Core, supported by a lightweight polyethelene backer. 
The LTC 28508 is a military plate which is NOT governed under the civilian NIJ standard. 
This has a rough equivalent of Level 4 protection, however the 28534 (Torso plates) are officially rated for three shots of .30-06 M2 AP and three shots of 5.56x45mm M995 Tungsten Core AP. 
 
The LTC 28508 must be used in conjunction with a Level IIIA or Military 9mm/ Frag rated backer to reach its full ballistic potential.
However these plates are for the most part standalone and will provide Level 4 equivalent protection when used alone. 
The military ESAPI Rev J standard has much higher requirements than the NIJ and they are tested in conjunction with the soft armor infantry soldiers are issued.
 
The LTC 28508 is capable of defeating multiple hits of 7.62x54R B32 API, .30-06 M2 AP, 7.62x51mm (M80 Ball, M61 AP, M80A1), 5.56x45mm (M193, M855, M855A1, M995) and 7.62x39mm (FMJ, API).
